What will be your reason for buying Hutchinson MN home? Will it be the convenient location? Hutchinson MN is only 76 miles from Minneapolis, and just an hour away from St. Cloud. Hutchinson’s central Minnesota location along Minnesota Highways 15, 7, and 22 make the city a regional retail hub and a easy getaway spot for residents of Meeker, Wright, McLeod, and surrounding counties. However, with all of the amenities this town of 14,000 residents have to offer, you might have many reasons to stay close to home. The community enjoys an active social life, wonderful parks, and great shopping. Many people relocate to this community because of the friendly atmosphere and the charm of this city. There is a state-of-the-art library in town that is over 100 years old. You might want to see a film at the multi-screen, fully restored, classic style movie theater.

Perhaps it’s the local economy. Minneapolis – St Paul Magazine cited Hutchinson MN as one of the nations top 50 great cities with great jobs. The retail sector is especially strong in Hutchinson. Large discount stores like Shopko, Runnings Farm & Fleet, and Walmart Super Center attract shoppers from surrounding towns. Weekend pilgrimages to the Hutchinson Mall are the norm. There are also plenty of antique stores and specialty shops to be found here. In addition to the retail sector, other major employers include hi-tech manufacturers like Hutchinson Technology and 3M. The Goebel Fixture Company is also a significant employer, and manufactures cabinetry and other fixtures for department stores. Hutchinson MN is a small city that has is big on maintaining and improving the quality of life.

There is a vibrant business community and Hutchinson was among Money Magazine’s list of the top 50 cities. If you join our community, you will always have plenty of things to do, especially if you are an outdoors enthusiast. Recreational opportunities include skydiving, paintball, and golf at the Crow River Golf Club. The Luce Line runs through here, offering snowmobiling, camping, biking, and horseback riding. Major bodies of water include the Crow River and Otter Lake. Wildlife enthusiasts enjoy feeding deer, ducks, geese, and wild turkeys at the Gopher Wildlife Sanctuary. Hutchinson has always been a little ahead of its time while remaining in touch with its past. The city boasts the second oldest park system in the nation; only New York’s park system is older.

The citizens are very vigilant about preserving their rich heritage and history. A statue of Chief Little Crow overlooks the Crow River near the east end of downtown. Chief Little Crow was shot by a farmer just north and west of Hutchinson. The expenses of the Civil War caused the federal government to default on promised payments for land purchases, sparking the Sioux Uprising of 1862. Chief Little Crow played a prominent part in this struggle.

The Hutchinson MN real estate market might be another reason. There is a good inventory, and there are plenty of homes out there offered at great prices. But if you are thinking of buying, don’t dawdle. Rates are low right now. As the metro area grows west, prices may start to resemble the Minneapolis real estate market’s prices.

As you can see, this market is diverse. This beautiful little town truly has something for every home buyer. Granted, the numbers are a bit skewed because this includes some lender-mediated properties (short sale and foreclosed). If you are looking for something cheap, I do not recommend sitting there and twiddling your thumbs because investors are scooping up these bank properties. Hutchinson MN real estate is affordable, too. The average list price is $229,393, but the majority of listings offered fall into the 200k-300k price range.

Home prices here tend to be more stable than other parts of Minnesota. We don’t tend to have the severe boom and bust vacillations that are characteristic of major metropolitan areas. Market times are a bit longer, but Hutchinson MN homes are selling. If you are looking for a home here, keep in mind that the nice ones usually sell first. If you find something you like, you can expect that there are other buyers who like it too.
