Either one will get you a nice catch. This 163 acre Meeker County MN lake in Dassel is well known for largemouth bass. Many of these ol’ “bucket mouths” span up to 16″ or 17″ in length and are a lot fun if you like to fish for something feisty. If you go trolling along the edge of the hardstem bullrushes or white and yellow water lily, you might snag some other predator fish like northern pike and smallmouth bass.
If you are looking for panfish, Long Lake is teeming with them. There are a quite a few hybrid sunfish, pumpkinseed, and green sunfish waiting for your hook, but bluegill sunfish reign supreme here, outnumbering even the black crappie. Walleye numbers are scant, but the lake has been stocked with them, so we will se what happens. Long Lake is not particularly known for walleye fishing.
